Unofficial Arch Linux Port for AArch64 (ARM64)

This is an unofficial user repository that hosts Arch Linux packages compiled for the AArch64 (ARM64) architecture. It is not operated by or otherwise affiliated with the Arch Linux project or the Arch Linux ARM project.

Who is this for?

The purpose of this package repository is to facilitate research and testing efforts for a Port of Arch Linux to AArch64 hosts. Contributing to the effort involves trying to install and use these packages, working through any issues you encounter, and sharing your work in accordance with guidelines.

The packages here are built for hosts with CPUs that support ARMv8-A (and later) instruction sets. If you want to run packages optimized for ARMv8.2-A hosts, they are also available.

Repository structure

The repos are organized similarly to those of x86_64. This makes using them as simple as ensuring the following is the only uncommented server in pacman.d/mirrorlist.

Server = https://arch.bens.haus/repos/$repo/os/$arch

In addition to the normal [core] and [extra] repos, there is an optional [aur] repo that can be added to pacman.conf to provide pandoc and shellcheck which are built using their -bin packages from the AUR to avoid packaging Haskell.

Package signing

Packages with arch=any are mirrored from official x86_64 repositories, and their signatures are mirrored as well. Packages with arch=aarch64 are signed by my PGP key. If you want pacman to verify package signatures, add my key to the pacman keyring using key ID C43E3B9B9CE3F35E97AEF93873556FFF735F691D.

ISO disk image

Built with official archiso. This image uses systemd-boot as the boot manager which requires a UEFI-capable bootloader to load. Note that ARM devices seem to frequently require special kernel parameters to boot and/or display output.

Bootstrap tarball

Useful for installing on a host running another Linux distribution. E.g. from "recovery" partitions on cloud compute resources.

Missing packages

Outside of deliberately ignored packages (like Haskell), if a package is missing it is likely failing to build. A summary report with links to build logs for failing packages is available.
